The Mental Health and Addiction Services at Th Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to work in ourEarly Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) team. This is a permanent, part-time position (0.6 FTE)
As the Consultant Psychiatrist in this area you will provide psychiatric assessment and management of clients under the care of Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) team. You will contribute to a multi-disciplinary team and offer expert psychiatric opinion and advice to other clinicians across Te Whatu Ora. In addition you will provide any other activities required to fulfil the role of responsible clinician for patients subject to the Mental Health Act.
Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau provides a specialist clinical mental health and addiction service to the Northland region, from north of Wellsford to Cape Reinga serving a growing population of around 164000. These services are designed to cater for people with significant mental illness and/or addiction that is beyond the scope of primary care services.

To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in either a vocational or locum tenens – special purpose Psychiatry scope of practice. FRANZCP and / or post graduate qualifications, however happy to hear from those near completion of their studies. If you are currently overseas / not yet registered, we can assist you with the application process to obtain MCNZ registration Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau is also an Approved Accredited Employer by New Zealand Immigration.
