Assistant Accountant – Accounts Payable

The Tatua Co-operative Dairy Company is a manufacturer and marketer of specialist high value dairy-based ingredients and consumer foods.
We are seeking an Assistant Accountant - Accounts Payable Officer to join our finance team. To be successful in this role, you could have Accounts Payable experience, ideally with knowledge in an automated Accounts Payable environment. Or alternatively, maybe you’re a finance graduate looking for your first step on the career ladder and have the passion and enthusiasm to learn quickly.
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, your primary focus will be the accurate processing and reconciliation of accounts for the monthly payment cycle.

In the role you will be responsible for:
- Timely and accurate matching of invoices to purchase orders
- Accurate coding and authorisation of non-purchase order invoices
- Reconciling invoices and credit notes to Suppliers statements and following up and clearing missing or unmatched invoices
- Handling any queries via phone and email and maintaining excellent relationships with suppliers
- Weekly and monthly payment runs, including foreign currency
- Balance sheet reconciliations for the Accounts Payable accounts
- Ongoing improvement of Accounts Payable applications, including Xtracta and Approval Plus.
We are seeking applicants who:
- Are self-motivated with creative problem-solving skills and an ability to “think outside the box”
- Enjoy building working relationships to drive commercial understanding, and have excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Possess an outstanding attention to detail
- Have strong user knowledge of MS Excel and general accounting functions.
