Advisor – Tauira Recruitment (Palmerston North)
  • Be the person who gets to light up faces by introducing them to the amazing programmes at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa
  • Permanent, part time (18.75 hours per week)
  • Palmerston North, New Zealand

About us
Te Wānanga o Aotearoa (TWo A) is New Zealand’s second largest tertiary institution and the world’s largest indigenous tertiary educator, and we’ve been providing transformational education opportunities to New Zealanders for nearly 40 years. Our vision of ‘Whānau transformation through education’ drives our commitment to being at the forefront of tertiary education underpinned by Māori culture and values.
Our kaimahi (employees) enjoy a whānau-friendly workplace where everyone is encouraged to be themselves. In return for their contribution, we offer kaimahi a range of benefits including:
  • Free health and life insurance for permanent employees.
  • Four extra annual leave days to celebrate Matariki and the Christmas/New Year season.
  • Special leave available for sporting or cultural events.
  • Tau Ora programmes that encourage wellbeing and inclusion.
  • Free car parking.

About this role

Are you passionate about education and community engagement? Do you have a knack for connecting with people and promoting transformative learning opportunities? We’re looking for a dynamic Advisor Tauira Recruitment to join our team and drive our recruitment initiatives to new heights!
Key responsibilities include:
  • Showcase the excellence of TWo A programmes and services to potential stakeholders and communities.
  • Craft and execute innovative recruitment plans, projects, and campaigns that capture hearts and minds of potential tauira (students).
  • Organize and lead inspiring programmes, activities, and events that bring our educational vision to life.
  • Align recruitment plans with our overarching national strategies, ensuring a cohesive approach.
  • Collaborate with Tauira Registry and Educational Delivery teams to turn interest into action – and expressions of interest into enrolments!
This position can be based on our Palmerston North Wānanga Campus and you will support our wider Horowhenua region, therefore, frequent travel across this region is required. The successful applicant MUST have a Full NZ Driver's License, comfortable driving long distances, and readily available to do overnight trips.

You will have proven experience-building relationships with a range of audiences including young people, Māori, Pasifika and/ or migrant communities.

About you

Think of yourself as a storyteller, sharing the TWo A journey with potential learners. You’ll be planning events that feel more like whanau gatherings, where every handshake is the start of a new learning adventure. You’ll also be the go-to guru for our team, guiding them through the ins and outs of recruitment, all while keeping our strategies snugly aligned with the big picture.
But it’s not all talk; you’ll be the backbone of support for home-based learning, making sure everyone feels part of the TWo A whānau, no matter where they are.
So, if you’re ready to be the face and voice of TWo A, to build bridges and nurture futures, we’re ready for you.
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
