What you do The General Services Office (GSO) is responsible for the management of physical resources and logistical functions at United States embassies and consulates, serving the Department of State and other U.S. Government agencies. GSO develops, plans, implements, and manages ongoing support programs including contracting, warehousing, and inventory of property and supplies, shipping and customs, motor pool, housing, travel, and VIP official visitor support. The Logistics Management Intern will work within the Customs and Shipping Team of the U.S. Embassy, facilitating importation and exportation of household and personal effects (HHE), privately owned vehicles (POV), unaccompanied baggage (UAB), and U.S. Government equipment and supplies for the Department of State and other agencies. The Logistics Management Intern can expect to be involved in coordinating, tracking, and managing logistics for all inbound and outbound shipments and the associated customs clearances. What we ask (minimal requirements to apply) o Enrollment in a bachelor’s program Logistics Management. o Strong written and verbal communication skills. o Good working knowledge English and Dutch (speaking/reading/writing) o Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite o A minimum age of 18 at the time of participation in the program. o Proof of citizenship or legal residency in the Netherlands Applicants must be in good academic standing at their current education institution and must provide a certified transcript verifying this when selected for an interview. Applicants must also provide written permission from the educational institution at which they are currently enrolled at the time of their application. All applicants under consideration will be required to pass security certification and may be required to obtain a Certificate of Conduct for Natural Persons (VOG) from the Ministry of Safety and Justice of the Netherlands. Please note that it might take up to six weeks to complete the full security certification process. To be considered for the program, applicants must meet the following definition of student: Student is an individual who is enrolled not less than half-time in a high school, trade school, technical or vocational institute, junior college, college, university or other accredited educational institution. To be considered for the program, students must have graduated from high school or equivalent secondary school prior to beginning the program and must be at least 18 years old. Also, there is not a break of service for purposes of this requirement if an individual is receiving academic credit for the internship, even if not otherwise taking classes.
