GENERAL SUMMARY
The Plant Quality Engineer is responsible for the overall quality control and quality planning activities for new, existing programs and is the designated quality representative on the Program Team (PT). In this function the Quality Engineer ensures the control plans, PFMEA, PPAP, inspection, gauging, GD&T is consistent with customer and Cooper Standard's requirements. Ensures the quality and compliance of all products and product events for both internal/external customers, and supplier.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
- Leads the Quality Engineering Function on both new and current programs as assigned.
- Key interface with Divisional PT team (Design Engineers, Program Engineers, and Account Manager).
- Participates with the Program Engineer in the development of DFMEA's by taking into consideration lessons learned, known customer/internal problems and warranty.
- Participates with the Manufacturing Engineer in the development of PFMEA by taking into consideration lessons learned, known customer/internal problems and warranty.
- Develops and implements quality documents for new product programs including control plans,
- Inspection reports, master samples, visual aids, and work instructions.
- Establishes gauging requirements, fabrication of gauging and approvals.
- Leads gauge studies (R&R) activities.
- Is responsible for manages the preparation and submission of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages for internal and external customers.
- Provides customer liaison support for launch activities.
- Leads problem solving process for all quality related issues utilizing Cooper Standard's problem.
- Solving processes and or the applicable customer processes, forms, standards and provides timely responses to customers.
- Visits customers pro-actively if is necessary to resolve quality concerns.
- Works with Purchasing, Engineering, and others as required for resolving supplier quality issues.
- Publishes all necessary quality documents including quality alerts, containment gates and work instructions, and rework procedures to ensure compliance to quality requirements.
- Responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the overall activities of receiving/outgoing quality functions.
- Establishes safe launch process for new parts, reviews data on a regular basis, drives process improvements and establishes exit plan based on data.
- Participation in change management activities and ensures changes are properly managed, approved and implemented effectively.
- Participates in Layered Process Audits and external 3rd party audits.
- Participates in training of new manufacturing associates.
- Review of quality reports to ensure part conformance to customer and internal requirements and drive actions to improve quality.
- All the responsibilities and follow the authority assigned according to the FTM-EHS-12 Roles, Responsibility and Authority Matrix from ISO 14001 /45001
- Complies with policies and procedures pertaining to facility or divisional adopted standards such as IATF 16949
- Ensures Housekeeping and Health & Safety Standards are met.
- Utilizes the concepts of continuous improvement including Lean.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and KNOWLEDGE
- Engineering degree / Certified Quality Engineering (CQE) or equivalent experience.
- One year minimum experience in automotive industry
- Skilled in the reading and interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge of automotive quality customer requirements.
- Ability to complete PPAP packages to customer requirements.
