Position Title: IT Support Specialist Location: IMAS Secondary, UNITEN Reports To: IT Head Department: Information Technology Employment Type: Full-Time Position Overview: The IT Support Specialist at IMAS is responsible for providing technical support and ensuring the efficient operation of IT systems within the school environment. This role is crucial in supporting our teachers, students, and administrative staff by maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing our IT infrastructure, which primarily includes Google Workspace, Google Classrooms, and Chromebook devices. Additionally, the IT Support Specialist will manage the help desk, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of technical issues. Key Responsibilities: 1. Help Desk Management: o Serve as the primary point of contact for the school's IT help desk, responding to support tickets, emails, and phone calls in a timely manner. o Prioritize and categorize incoming support requests based on urgency and impact, ensuring critical issues are addressed swiftly. o Follow up with users to ensure that their issues are fully resolved and provide feedback on the support process. 2. Technical Support: o Provide first-line support to teachers, students, and staff for technical issues related to Internet access, Google Workspace, Google Classrooms, and Chromebooks. o Manage and maintain computer labs to ensure their readiness for instruction. o Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues on Chromebooks and other school devices. o Assist in setting up and maintaining classroom technology, including projectors, interactive whiteboards, Smart TV’s and audio-visual equipment. 3. Google Workspace and Classroom Management: o Manage and troubleshoot issues related to Google Workspace, including Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and other associated applications. o Support teachers in the effective use of Google Classroom for instructional purposes, including setup, configuration, and troubleshooting. 4. Device Management: o Oversee the deployment, management, and maintenance of Chromebooks used by students and teachers. o Maintain accurate inventory records of all school devices, including Chromebooks, desktops, laptops, projectors, and other IT equipment. o Track the lifecycle of devices from procurement to retirement, ensuring timely updates and replacements as needed. 5. Network and Systems Support: o Assist in monitoring and maintaining the school’s network infrastructure, ensuring stable and secure connectivity. o Work with the IT Head to ensure the school's system and data are secure and backed up regularly. o Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights within the school's IT systems. 6. General IT Support: o Assist with the procurement and installation of new hardware and software. o Support the IT team in projects and initiatives aimed at improving the school’s technology infrastructure. o Maintain inventory of IT equipment and manage software licenses. Qualifications and Skills: Education: o Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred. o Relevant certifications (e.g., Google Certified Educator, Google Workspace Administrator, Comp TIA A+, etc.) are a plus. Experience: o Minimum of 2 years of experience in an IT support role, preferably within an educational setting. o Experience with Google Workspace for Education and Chromebook management. o Experience in managing an IT help desk or similar support function. Technical Skills: o Strong understanding of Google Workspace and Google Classroom environments. o Strong understanding of network management and troubleshooting. o Familiarity with help desk software and support ticketing systems. Soft Skills: o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. o Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail. o Ability to work independently and as part of a team. o Patience and a customer-service-oriented approach to supporting teachers and students. Working Conditions: The role may require occasional lifting of IT equipment and working outside regular school hours to minimize disruption to the school day.
