Responsibilities
The Roles of the GIS Data Management Engineer shall include, but not be limited to the following:
- Directs the work of personnel in his charge.
- Prepares and submits daily/weekly/Monthly reports to the GIS Specialist/Project Manager.
- Ensures quality of work and supervision.
- Develops and maintains QA and QC procedures for all GIS related activities.
- Conducts Land Reservation and Land Management activities.
- Conduct site visits and minor survey activities to validate and or verify survey data.
- Assist in the development and design of the GIS database.
- Assist in the development of all required database documentation.
- Perform Spatial and Data Analyst tasks.
- Using GIS systems to edit data create reports and generate maps.
- Assist in the maintenance and preparation all field survey data for inclusion to GIS database.
- Ensure and develop procedures for QC and QA of all data to be included into the GIS database. This includes, but is not limited to, topology correction, real world logic, accuracy and completeness of both spatial and attributes information.
- Provides technical support to the operational functions.
- Review appropriateness and preparation of external data for GIS inclusion.
- Liaise with internal and external engineers and surveyors, GIS and drawing office teams.
- Liaises with other team members to ensure efficient utilization of manpower and efforts.
- Be capable of group communication to ensure efficient contacts with internal and external engineers and surveyors, GIS and drawing office teams.
- Able to train and provide technical direction to less experienced personnel.
Requirements
- Four years of work experience with GIS preferably using ESRI’s Arc GIS software platform.
- Previous experience with GIS database design and maintenance.
- Previous experience with scripting and GIS application programming is preferred.
- Understanding of data collection techniques and related issues.
- Previous experience in data conversion and experience with GIS data and CAD data integration.
- Proficient skill in cartography as well as coordinate systems and projections.
- Working knowledge of CAD software packages.
- Familiarity with technical terms and the ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely in English.
Education
- B.Sc. in GIS or closely related field (surveying, geography, geodetic science, geology or civil engineering).
Generic & Specific Skills
- Shall be able to read, write and speak English language freely.
