Training Coordinator - Electrical Contractor

Job description
Our client, is recruiting for an experienced Training Coordinator to support its continued growth as a leading Electrical contractor in the Irish residential and commercial construction industries.
The Training Coordinator role involves developing and implementing comprehensive training strategies that enhance the skills, compliance, and efficiency of all technical staff within both the commercial and residential sectors. The Training Coordinator will work with the extended team to design and administer targeted training programs catering to the entire range of technical employees, from first-year apprentices through to fully qualified electricians.
The Training Coordinator is crucial for maintaining high standards in an ever-evolving electrical services industry. By developing comprehensive training programmes, this role ensures all staff remain proficient in the latest practices and compliant with safety regulations, mitigating risks and reducing potential costs from accidents and quality non-conformances.
This position not only enhances workforce skills and stability, increasing employee retention and satisfaction but also optimises training expenditures by reducing dependency on external resources. Ultimately, the Training Coordinator is vital in supporting the organisation's strategic goals, directly impacting operational effectiveness and enabling sustainable growth in a competitive market.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Training Program Development: Collaborate with senior management to create a strategic training plan that aligns with the business objectives. This plan should address immediate and long-term skills requirements, technological advancements in electrical contracting, and industry compliance standards.
  • Program Design and Delivery: Design, develop, and deliver training programs that are comprehensive and customised for different levels of expertise within the company. Ensure that training methodologies are effective and engaging, incorporating both theoretical and practical aspects of the Electrical Contractors work.
  • Training resources: Develop and organise training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other best practices educational materials. Plan, organise, and direct a wide-range of training activities, including on-site and off-site sessions.
  • Onboarding: Lead the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring they are well-integrated into the company culture and aware of job expectations and safety protocols.
  • Mentorship and Support: Facilitate mentorship programs linking less experienced electricians with experienced professionals to promote knowledge sharing and on-the-job training.
  • Apprenticeship development: Specifically design segments of training programs to support apprentices in acquiring essential skills and progressing toward qualified status.
  • Evaluation and Adaptation: Implement an evaluation framework to assess the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments to align with changing industry standards and business objectives.
  • Safety and Compliance Training: Regularly update and conduct safety training sessions in-line with current laws and regulations, tailored to the specific risks associated with residential and commercial electrical work.
  • Technology Utilisation: Integrate new training technologies and methodologies to enhance learning and practical application of skills in the field.
  • Continuous Education: Develop continuous education opportunities for qualified electricians to advance their skills in specialised areas such as smart home technology, renewable energy systems, or high-voltage installations.
Key Skills and Competencies:
  • Training delivery: Proficiency in creating structured training programs that are effective across different levels of expertise.
  • Industry Experience: Understanding of the Construction Industry, including emerging trends and technologies.
  • Leadership: Ability to inspire and guide trainees of all levels, fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills for delivering clear and engaging training sessions and for interacting effectively with all company stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving: Capability to quickly identify issues in training processes and develop effective solutions.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software tools.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in developing, coordinating, and delivering training programmes, ideally within the electrical or construction industry in Ireland.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, education and training, or a related field from a recognised third level institution.
  • A recognised training qualification such as QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland) Level 6 Training and Development.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in training, electrical work, or safety (e.g., Certified Technical Trainer) are advantageous.
Work Environment:
  • The role requires flexibility to adapt to various environments, including office settings, educational facilities, and active job sites in commercial and residential buildings. Occasional travel to different sites may be required based on the training schedule and location of employees.
Job Type: Contract, 2-3 days per week up to full time.
Pay: To be determined based on experienced.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term
Pay: €55,000.00-€60,000.00 per year
