Site Setting Out Engineer


Job Title: Site Engineer €70k-€75k p/a
Location: Portlaoise, Co. Laois, Ireland

The Role: As our company continues to grow, we are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Site Engineer to join our team for an exciting project in Portlaoise, which consists of 195 residential units and a creche. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, this role offers a unique opportunity for a result-oriented individual to make a significant impact on the development and success of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and verify plans, drawings, and quantities for accuracy of calculations.
  • Monitor and interpret contract design documents provided by the client or architect.
  • Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the general workforce involved in the project.
  • Perform setting out using various instruments as required by the company.
  • Supervise and monitor ground works and civil engineering contractors.
  • Resolve unexpected technical difficulties and other issues that may arise.
  • Report progress to the Package Manager/Quantity Surveyor and highlight any concerns.
  • Oversee quality management and Building Control Amendment Regulations (BCAR) coordination.
  • Ensure adherence to planning, health and safety, and environmental standards.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports to site teams, key stakeholders, and partners.
Key Requirements:
  • Degree in Engineering (Civil/Structural).
  • Extensive experience as a Site Engineer on residential projects with either a Developer and/or Main Contractor.
  • Strong setting out skills with proficiency in Auto CAD, Total Station, GPS, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of the latest building regulations and certification standards.
  • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility for tasks/projects.
  • Exceptional accuracy, attention to detail, and a methodical approach to work.
