Avenue Veterinary Hospital is seeking a receptionist for our small animal hospital in Dundalk, Co Louth.
The Role
Full-time, permanent position
35-40 hours over 5 days per week – Monday to Friday
Shifts are rotating between 9am-5pm or 10:30am-6:30pm
On-site parking available
Wage is €12.70 per hour
Start date early September 2024
22 days annual leave (subject to pro rata)

About Us Avenue Veterinary Hospital is a 100% small animal practice located in Dundalk Co Louth. Situated on the Northeast coast, famed for its local community, heritage history, thriving nightlife and local festivals, Dundalk is about 1 hour from Belfast and Dublin cities. It is accessible by the M1, train and bus. The local college, DKIT, boasts a well-known Veterinary Nursing course which continually produces excellent Veterinary Nurses each year.
Avenue Vets has been a dedicated companion animal practice for over 30 years in the local community. And now with a young and enthusiastic team of Veterinary Surgeons, Nurses, and support staff we are looking forward to a new receptionist joining our practice.
Our purpose-built hospital includes a fully equipped surgical suite, laboratory, x-ray room, large treatment area, separate cat and dog wards, isolation unit and three consultation rooms. Our practice is spacious, giving a nice environment to work effectively and comfortably as part of a larger team.
Applicant Requirements We are seeking a trustworthy, reliable and friendly person able to work in a fast-paced veterinary practice environment. The successful applicant must have:
Previous receptionist experience in any service-related industry
Experience in veterinary or animal care is beneficial but not essential
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Be competent with computers and learning new IT systems
Comfortable with cash handling
Demonstrate high standards of hygiene and cleaning
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Be a team player
Possess great organizational skills
A love for animal welfare is a requirement
