Reporting to: Laboratory Supervisor (or as directed)
Division: Waste Oil/Industrial &Automotive
Location: Portlaoise, Co. Laois
Hours: Working hours are 8.00am to 4.30pm and 10.30am to 7pm on a fortnightly shift rotation.
Main purpose of role:
To perform analysis as required in accordance with internal and waste licence regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities:
To perform appropriate tests on incoming and outgoing wastes on a daily basis and to record, interpret and report results of same.
To perform appropriate tests on surface water, ground water and effluent as required and to record and report results of same.
To perform appropriate tests on incoming waste oil and outgoing reprocessed oil and to record and report on results of same.
To conduct in-process testing to ensure product conformity.
To work closely with the operations/production team to deliver solutions and ensure customer/business demands are met in a timely and efficient manner.
To record stocks of the incoming and outgoing products.
To liaise with operations departments at month end to agree and reconcile stocks figures.
To proactively address and highlight potential issues to the relevant department when necessary.
To update and maintain daily records for the EPA waste licence and report without any delay any non-conformities.
To adhere to the company’s health and safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments and audits when and where necessary.
To ensure that appropriate levels of consumables are maintained within the lab and to highlight shortages as necessary.
To ensure that the lab is kept clean and tidy at all times and adhere to good housekeeping practices.
To provide direct support to the Dublin business as and when required e.g. Health, Safety and environmental duties, finance duties as may reasonably be requested.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Third level qualification in Environmental science or equivalent degree required.
Routine lab experience would be distinct advantage
Ambitious individual capable of working on own initiative or as part of a team
Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills
PC literate; Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, E-mail, LIMS etc.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
