Reports to: Service Manager
Location: Co. Laois – Ireland
Salary: €30,000 to €35,000 + Allowances (DOE)

The Social Care Worker must have the ability to work with children in a residential environment. The Social Care Worker, in co-operation with the Shift Lead and the Person in Charge will be responsible for the overall growth and direction of the residents, working within the ethos of the client.
Key Responsibilities:

Respect each person who uses the services as an equal citizen.
Uphold and respect the human, legal and constitutional rights of each person who uses the service, recognising their individuality and equality, and empowering them to grow, thereby achieving the highest possible level of personal autonomy.
Facilitate, encourage, and develop the choice and decision-making skills of people who use the services.
Facilitate, encourage, and develop the self-advocacy skills of and opportunities for involvement in advocacy for people who use services.
Enable everyone supported by the services to pursue and maintain their individual hobbies and interests.
Foster, encourage and develop the self-help and social skills of everyone supported by the services to achieve the greatest degree of autonomy possible.
Facilitate everyone supported by the services to actively participate and integrate into the community, using generic community facilities.
Ensure a person-centred approach to service delivery.

Essential Minimum Qualification(s):
Along with the ability to carry out all duties detailed in the job description; it is essential applicants must have the following qualifications:
The successful candidate must have attained a

BA in Applied Social Care Work (level 7/8) or equivalent OR Equivalent:
QQI Level 8 in Psychology
QQI Level 7 or Professional Practice Qualification in Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy
QQI Level 7 or Professional Practice Qualification in Counselling/ Psychotherapy
QQI Level 7 or Professional Practice Qualification in Addiction Counselling
QQI Level 7 on Youth and Community or similar
QQI Level 7 in Social Science/Social Studies
QQI Level 7 in Family Support
Professional Qualification in Teaching (Not TEFL)
Professional Qualification in Nursing Studies
QQI Level 7 in Disability Studies
QQI Level 7 in Applied Behavioural Analysis
QQI Level 7 Early Years Care, where centre caters for children aged 12 and under
BA in Applied Policing or equivalent
Holder of Higher Certificate in Custodial Care (Irish Prison Service) or equivalent
