Flight Operations Assistant

Atlantic Flight Training Academy are recruiting for a full time Flight Operations Assistant.
AFTA operate a large fleet of Cessna 172 and Diamond DA42 aircraft training domestic and international cadets for some of the world’s largest airlines. As an entry level Flight Operations Assistant, you will be responsible for manning the Flight Operations Front Desk, liaising with customers, students & instructors daily in relation to flight bookings, driving the minibus and assisting with ramp and fuel duties.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Attend to the Flight Operations front desk, liaising with customers, students & instructors daily in relation to flight bookings and arranging roster changes on behalf of the student or instructor.
  • Answer the flight operations telephone, ensuring queries, bookings and roster changes are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Conduct cash and card transactions via the company POS system and issue receipts.
  • Support the Rostering Manager and Operations Controller as required with the instructor and student rosters.
  • Provide excellent customer service to flight voucher bookings and students, ensuring customer expectations are met and exceeded.
  • Sell gift vouchers to walk in or phone customers.
  • Escort students or personnel without ID airside where required.
  • Drive the company minibus to drive students, staff or VIP guests to destinations around the city or county or country, including medicals and Dublin airport pick-ups, as required.
  • Ensure the buses are in working order, clean and presentable at all times.
  • Assist with fuelling of aircraft and the bowsers
  • Assist the Ramp & Fuel Farm Controller with ramp and fuel farm maintenance including upkeep of the ramp and surrounding areas (e.g. grass / hedge cutting, painting etc) and ramp checks in the morning and evening.
  • Ensure the Flight Operations area including the canteen, bathrooms, briefing rooms and cabin crew room are kept clean and presentable.
This role is rostered over 7 days of the week and throughout holidays as the roster runs 364 days of the year and varies according to the season.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES / QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be 25 years of age or over (to allow you to drive company vehicles)
  • Clean, full driving licence essential
  • 1+ year’s experience in a similar customer facing role
  • Ability to hold airport restricted zone access
  • Fluent English is essential.
  • Must have the right to live and work in Ireland
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft, email, PC systems and the internet
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES / QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Logistics experience and/or maintenance experience and an interest in aviation or experience within the aviation industry is desirable but not essential.
PERSONAL COMPETENCIES
  • Proven ability to handle a varied workload, working well under pressure with multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to ensure company priorities are delivered, while maintaining satisfaction within the student and instructor populations.
  • Good Communication skills and ability to forge positive working relationships with Students, Instructors and Aircraft Maintenance personnel is essential.
  • Good Customer service skills required to deal with students, instructors and external clients and customers.
