Family Support Worker/Driver Galway

We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Family Support Worker/Driver to join our team in Galway & Galway City
Contract Type: Relief
Contract Hours: Variable
Salary Scale: €32,639 to €39,499 (€16 to 19.47) pro rata per annum. Salary scales are subject to LSI’s (Long Service Increments)
Annual Leave Entitlement: Annual leave entitlement is 10.7% of Hours Worker

Overview of the Post:
To provide personal assistant support to children to enable them to participate in the community, achieve person centred goals and facilitate inclusion. The Personal Assistant will provide practical, personal and social support to the individual they work with.
Flexible regarding working hours: afterschool / evenings and Saturdays / school holidays on return of hours basis as required.

The successful candidate will have
Essential Criteria:
  • QQI Level 5 major award in childcare or equivalent (we will consider applicants working towards full major childcare qualification or equivalent)
  • Have experience working with children/teens
  • Have experience of working with children with physical disabilities
  • Have experience providing personal care to individuals
  • Demonstrates excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates good awareness of health and safety issues

Desirable Criteria:
  • Have experience of working with children in community/non-centred based and centre based setting as Lone Worker and as part of a team
  • Have experience of working with children with physical disabilities
  • Have at least one years’ experience assisting individuals with disabilities in using hoists, wheelchairs, bathroom and transfers
  • Access to transport and full clean driving licence
