Clinical Nurse Manager 1, Glebe Lodge Service (19.5hrs per week)
We are currently recruiting for the following position Post: Clinical Nurse Manager 1 Contract: Specified Purpose, Part-Time (19.5hrs per week) Location: Glebe Lodge, Castleisland, Co Kerry *Rosters may be subject to change due to the operational requirements of the service* Glebe Lodge is a purpose built residential service located in Castleisland, offering a supportive home for 10 residents, as well as a respite service with one dedicated bed. The facility operates on a nurse led model, providing specialised care for individuals with intellectual disabilities, including those with high care needs and requiring end of life support. KPFA is seeking a passionate and motivated CNM1 to join our dynamic team. In this role, the successful candidate will work closely with the manager to ensure the delivery of a high quality, life enhancing service to all residents. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Support managment in overseeing the residential service, ensuring a high level of governance is maintained, particularly in the absence of the Person in Charge (PIC)/Centre Manager.
Provide hands on support to the care team, fostering a positive work environment, and promoting professional development through training, mentoring, and supervising staff /student nurses.
Ensure residents and respite users receive care aligned with best practices, national standards, and a person centered approach, including clinical, emotional, and social support.
Adhere to relevant legislation, professional clinical guidelines, and Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) standards. Promote evidence-based practice and maintain high standards in care delivery and documentation.
Lead and participate in developing clinical protocols and guidelines, support health promotion initiatives, and contribute to quality improvement through audits and risk assessments.
Ensure a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors by adhering to health and safety policies, infection control measures, and incident reporting.
Assist in managing staff deployment, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring optimal service delivery. Monitor and report on financial matters, including petty cash and resident funds.
Maintain strong relationships with residents and families, ensuring effective care planning, coordination, and transition planning.
Engage in continuous professional development, staying up to date with nursing practices and contributing to staff learning and development.
The role is evolutionary in nature and consequently the post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate, which may be assigned to him/her from time to time. Essential Criteria
Qualified General/Intellectual Disability/Mental Health Nurse and be registered with NMBI.
A minimum of 3 years post registration experience and currently operating at CNM1 or Senior Staff Nurse Level.
Have line management or significant supervisory experience within the disability or broad personal social services field.
Knowledge of HIQA Regulations, Disability Act 2005; Health and Safety Legislation; Data Protection & GDPR.
Commitment to providing a quality service.
Must have strong communication, problem solving and decision making skills.
Strong IT skills relating to standard Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
A Full Drivers Licence with access to a car insured for business purposes and must be willing to drive Association vehicles.
Where applicable, applicants must hold a valid Irish work permit.
