Activity Coordinator - College View Nursing Home (Part Time Hours, Including Weekends)
Grace Healthcare are currently recruiting for a Part Time Activities Coordinator for College View Nursing Home in Cavan Town, Co.Cavan. Shifts are rostered Monday-Sunday. Hours 9am-5pm The Activities Coordinator will be responsible for working with the activities committee, Coordinators and management in the implementation and delivery of meaningful person centered recreational activities, that match each individual needs that is grounded on our Core Values. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Working with activities team and coordinators in the development of daily/weekly/monthly person-centered activities plan which should include both individual and group activities in line with the needs
Organising and maintaining on a daily basis standard activities which include (but are not limited to) arts and crafts, baking, gardening, flower arranging, newspapers quizzes, card games, bingo, exercise sessions, walks, hand massages, nail care, arranging hairdressing appointments, sensory room and arranging attendance at mass or other religious services.
To work with the activities Committee /Coordinators to encourage non planned activities in each of the households
To be highly motivated and have excellent communication skills to deliver your activity programmes to a range of people.
To be able to work well in a team and liaise with other staff, volunteers, and residents and encourage other staff to be part of the home’s activities plan . Liaise with bus driver when planning external activities/trips
Work with activities committee to constantly review activities to ensure it meets the needs of the people who live here
Assisting with the orientation of new Residents and assessing what activities they would like or benefit from.
Preparation and distribution of newsletter quarterly and event posters
Liaise with volunteers or external providers who assist in provision of activities and where necessary work with committee to identify new volunteers who would add to variety and quality of activities on offer.
All activities should be recorded on Epic Care, this should be used in the ongoing review to ensure planned activities have been completed and level of participation .
Ensure evidence-based practice by auditing of recreational assessments, care planning, daily documentation, and documented response levels. Resident meetings would also be audited ensuring that all residents are informed of upcoming and new events that are taking place around the home.

The holder of this post must exhibit knowledge of quality standards and Person-centered care in accordance with the household model and HIQA standards.
Use initiative and take ownership of tasks to completion
To maintain Confidentiality regarding all issues and information relating to residents, staff and the company
Attending in-service training and education programmes as may be required
