Job Description Summary :

Develop and assist oil palm breeding program

Job Description :

Assist Dept Head in preparation of specific reports for Research Annual Meeting, Research Subcom Meeting and MCAR
Carry out the Clone Selection and Evaluation programme as developed by the Head of Department. The clonal program must ensure superior oil palm planting materials are released to ensure the profitability and sustainability of the palm oil industry.
Ensure that the oil palm breeding programme is carried out and monitored regularly by the Clone Selection and Evaluation
Ensure the continuous supply of candidate clones for evaluation and ultimately through selection for registration and release as Elite Clones (EKA Series) for commercial planting.
Develop clone materials with traits enhancing the sustainability of oil palm i.e. oil yield increase, disease tolerance (Ganoderma/fusarium), drought tolerance, high photosynthesis under high atmospheric CO2, improved oil quality and palm ideotype for high density planting.
Employ the new biotechnology selection methods and techniques for more rapid advance in the selection of traits of interest.
Monitor and Report of all Clone Selection and Evaluation trials. Carry out clone selection to develop new generation of oil palm clones with improved traits.

Job requirements :

Minimum S1/S2 in Agronomy or related
Strong knowledge and have experience in palm oil breeding
Have a good knowledge in plant cell
Must be fluent in English
Good leadership
Placement in Riau (Libo)
