Job Summary: The Kitchen Helper supports kitchen staff by performing a variety of tasks essential to food preparation and kitchen cleanliness. This role is designed for individuals looking to gain experience in a kitchen environment and contribute to efficient kitchen operations. Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation: Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients.
Kitchen Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including washing dishes, pots, and pans; cleaning countertops, floors, and kitchen equipment.
Stock Management: Help with the stocking and organization of kitchen supplies and ingredients, including checking inventory levels and assisting with deliveries.
Equipment Handling: Operate basic kitchen equipment safely and properly, such as dishwashers, mixers, and food processors.
Assistance to Chefs: Support chefs and cooks by fetching ingredients, utensils, and equipment as needed and assisting with basic cooking tasks.
Waste Management: Dispose of kitchen waste properly and ensure that waste areas are kept clean and organized.
Health & Safety: Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper food handling and hygiene practices, to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
Education: No formal education required; however, a high school diploma or equivalent is a plus.
Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen environment is helpful but not necessary; on-the-job training is provided.
Skills:
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
Good organizational and multitasking skills
