Leadership & Supervision: The ICU Incharge shall be responsible for the overall management and coordination of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This role involves supervising nursing staff, ensuring high standards of patient care, and maintaining an efficient, safe, and compassionate environment for patients and their families. He/She plays a crucial role in staff development, policy implementation, and quality improvement initiatives within the ICU. Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations of the ICU, including staffing, resource allocation, and patient care.
Supervise and support the ICU nursing team, ensuring adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
Lead and mentor nursing staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
Ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based patient care in the ICU.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for critically ill patients.
Monitor patient progress and intervene as necessary to manage complex and critical situations.
Develop and implement orientation programs for new staff and ongoing education for existing staff.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to nursing staff.
Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, communication, and professional growth.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, hospital policies, and best practices in critical care nursing.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and reviews within the ICU.
Monitor and address any issues related to patient safety, infection control, and risk management.
Act as a liaison between nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
Facilitate clear and effective communication with patients' families, providing updates and addressing concerns.
Coordinate the transfer of patients to and from the ICU, ensuring continuity of care.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, staffing schedules, and inventory management.
Prepare and submit reports on ICU operations, patient outcomes, and staff performance.
Assist in budgeting, resource planning, and procurement for the ICU.
Qualifications:
Education: B. Sc Nursing/GNM preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a critical care/ICU setting. Previous supervisory or management experience is highly desirable.
