Public Policy Specialist, AWS

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 5 years of relevant public policy experience and a keen understanding of Hong Kong’s policymaking process and government relations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience formulating and effectively delivering factual, relevant, and easily understandable talking points and other messaging
  • Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity
  • Readiness to learn quickly and be able to work independently
The Public Policy Specialist will help support our public policy & government relations work in Hong Kong. You will work with members of the public policy team to develop and execute government engagement programs in Hong Kong and advocate AWS’s position on relevant public policy issues. You will develop tools and procedures for collecting, filing, and reporting relevant data on an ongoing basis. You will explore government engagement opportunities and advise public policy team members on risks and best practices. This position will report to the Head of Public Policy, Hong Kong.

  • This position is a contractor position.
  • Background with information technology an advantage
  • Demonstrated ability to be both a substantive issue expert on matters related to Amazon’s business and a manager of complex political relationships
  • Experience identifying and understanding key technical aspects pertaining to corporate operations in local political environments, understanding business implications, and synthesizing information for internal and external customers, and recommending a best course of action
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate, government, and regulatory agency levels
