Sourcing Manager

Join the future of sustainable shipping with Norsepower!

Are you ready to embark on a thrilling journey in the heart of maritime innovation? Norsepower, a pioneer in sustainable shipping solutions, is bringing sails back to shipping – and saving the planet at the same time. We are now seeking a dynamic and talented Sourcing Manager to join our team.
Norsepower Rotor Sail harnesses the wind to maximize fuel efficiency and reduce emissions of ships. It is the first commercially available mechanical sail for large vessels. It has a proven track record of successful operation since 2014. Norsepower’s project services cover all phases from sales to project delivery and operational support. Each project is planned according to the client’s needs and preferences.
As a Sourcing Manager, you will join a team of two people. You will be responsible for managing and developing supplier relationships, with a focus on improving supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, and delivery time as well as ESG and sustainability standards. As the company is growing rapidly, increasing volumes necessitate risk management and capacity planning by expanding the supplier base. Initially, you will concentrate on Category B suppliers, managing a wide range of components, such as electrical parts, and mechanical materials. In addition, you will have a possibility to continuous improvement by developing supplier management processes and e.g. collaborating with engineering to refine product designs for better manufacturability, quality, and efficiency.

You will collaborate closely with your team members and with different internal and external stakeholders, such as procurement, production, design teams, and suppliers. This role requires a hands-on approach, as you will be actively involved in day-to-day operations and problem-solving. We assume you have great communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a practical, can-do mindset. Being consistently eager to learn, developing oneself, and thriving in a fast-growing company are key attributes.

Our office is located in Ruoholahti, and we work in a flexible hybrid model. We hope you would be interested in coming to the office 2-3 times a week, fostering a collaborative work environment.

We offer you
  • A possibility to contribute to a more sustainable future
  • A chance to get exposure to the exciting world of international cleantech
  • Continuous learning opportunities, allowing you to grow and develop your skills in a supportive environment
  • A motivated and collaborative team to join, comprising highly driven professionals from various disciplines, all dedicated to shaping a cleaner future for the shipping industry
  • Flexibility in working conditions, allowing you to enjoy a work-life balance that suits your lifestyle
  • Employee benefits including lunch, telephone, sports & culture, employee bike, and a possibility to participate in a stock option program
Requirements
  • Relevant educational background (B.Sc. or M.Sc.)
  • At least a few years of experience in working with global supplier relations
  • Proven track record of supply chain improvements
  • Sufficient technical understanding through education and/or work experience
  • Willingness to travel (app. 30–60 days per year)
  • Full working proficiency in English
Bonus skills
  • Logistics experience related to sourcing and supply chain
  • Experience in concrete actions with ESG and sustainability in the supply chain
  • Experience in the marine industry and project deliveries
  • Experience in Asia supply chain development
