Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of human gut microbiome
Research Program Unit at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Helsinki invites applications for a fixed-term position of
Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of human gut microbiome
from 1.2.2025 until 31.12.2026 or according to agreement.
Our research group, funded by the ERC and the RCF, investigates microbial ecology in the human gut using an interdisciplinary approach, combining culture-based microbiology and modern multiomics with bioinformatics and analytical methods from population ecology. The position of postdoctoral researcher involves mathematical and statistical modelling of microbial genomic and metagenomic data as well as microbial population time series data.
Qualifications
The candidate should have an Ph D degree in (bio)mathematics, (bio)statistics, ecology, or other suitable field and experience in statistical (incl. Bayesian) and mathematical modelling. Experience in bioinformatics, population ecology or population genetics is seen as an advantage. We are looking for a highly motivated and independent researcher able to work collaboratively in a team and adjust to different types of tasks throughout the project.
The candidate should have an Ph D degree in (bio)mathematics, (bio)statistics, ecology, or other suitable field and experience in statistical (incl. Bayesian) and mathematical modelling. Experience in bioinformatics, population ecology or population genetics is seen as an advantage. We are looking for a highly motivated and independent researcher able to work collaboratively in a team and adjust to different types of tasks throughout the project.
The degree requirement must be met by the beginning of the employment. The chosen applicant is expected to reside in Finland while employed by the University of Helsinki.
