We are looking for individuals who thrive on making an impact and want the excitement of being on a team that wins.
Job Description
We are seeking an Audio Measurement & Research Engineer to join our dedicated and enthusiastic team at NL Acoustics (part of Teledyne FLIR) in Helsinki and help improve the performance of our next-generation acoustic imagers. As a company, we are passionate about turning sound into value. We develop cutting-edge solutions that enable our customers to detect and resolve issues such as wasted energy, gas leaks, and mechanical faults in power grids and industrial settings.
We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in measurement, analysis, and signal processing, who is eager to apply and expand their expertise in the audio and acoustics space. Whether your background is in audio or in other areas, what matters most is your ability to work with data, innovate, and deliver real-world solutions that make a difference.
Responsibilites: As a member of our research and development team, you will
- Work on the development of measurement hardware and methods,
- Apply your skills in signal processing and measurement to enhance the accuracy and performance of our acoustic imagers,
- Perform and analyze measurements from both audible and ultrasonic sources to support product enhancements,
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and refine algorithms that transform data into actionable insights for our customers, helping them solve real-world problems such as identifying mechanical issues or preventing energy loss,
- Participate in short development cycles, where ideas are quickly tested, validated, and iterated to ensure continuous improvement.
When analyzing data and developing new algorithms, you will mostly work with Python and C++, but you don’t need to be an expert in these specific languages. As long as you’re a fast learner with strong programming skills, you’ll fit right in.
Skills & Qualifications: We are seeking candidates who
- Are experienced in making measurements and analyzing results, with a curiosity for expanding their knowledge in audio and acoustics,
- Are strong problem-solvers with a passion for developing algorithms,
- Are comfortable with programming and open to learning new languages and tools as needed (familiarity with Python and C++ is a plus, but not required),
- Have a Master's degree in a relevant field,
- Have 5 years of professional experience, ideally in product development or a related field.
