How You’ll Make an Impact
- Responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of the power plant.
- Examining corporate activities and establish where improvements can be made and ensure compliance with environmental and social legislation and IFC requirements across the organization.
- Create, implement and monitor environmental and social strategies to promote sustainable development. Review the whole operation, carrying out environmental audits and assessments, identifying and resolving environmental problems and ensuring necessary changes are implemented.
- Develop and implement environmental strategies and action plans, to ensure corporate sustainable development.
- Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy, in addition to social aspects as well.
- Lead the implementation of environmental policies and practices.
- Liaise with relevant bodies such as local authorities, public bodies and competent bodies.
- Audit, analyse and report environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies.
- Carry out impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce an organization’s environmental risks and financial costs.
- Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of an organization, of the impact of emerging environmental issues.
- Implement best practice in areas of corporate, ethical and social responsibility and address any issues arising.
- Develop and implement environmental management systems to continually improve the impact of the organization on the environment.
- Coordinate public hearings and consultations on environmental matters.
- Manage relations with management and internal staff.
- Train staff at all levels on environmental issues and responsibilities.
- Negotiate environmental service agreements and manage associated costs and revenues.
- Prepare on time environmental reports, LPR and whatever required reports to cover Siemens Energy, legal and lenders requirements.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry, or related field.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, interpretations, and health and safety programs.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Aptitude to solve problems quickly with advanced conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English & Arabic).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must understand the concept of management systems in general, and environmental and social management systems in particular.
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently, articulate issues and recommend solutions.
