This pivotal role will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of our investment funds, ensuring compliance with regulations, and optimizing fund performance. Key Responsibilities:
Fund Administration and Investor Relations Management:
Lead and manage all financial activities related to Flat6Labs' investment funds, including Cash Management, Budgeting, and expense tracking.
Support the investment team throughout the fund lifecycle, including Fundraising, Due diligence, capital deployment, and exits.
Develop and implement financial strategies to maximize fund performance and returns.
Monitor and calculate fund performance, reporting back to management and investors.
Collaborate with senior management to define fund structuring processes and prepare long-term strategic forecasts for the funds and management companies.
Prepare fund reporting and financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate records of fund transactions, investments, and performance metrics.
Streamline operational processes to improve the efficiency and scalability of fund administration activities.
Ensure fund and GP corporate governance is periodically initiated and licenses are up to date.
Manage capital calls and plan for efficient deployment.
Manage relationships with stakeholders including but not limited to startups, partners, lawyers, regulators, banks, and investors to ensure smooth transactions
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for fund stakeholders, investors, and regulatory authorities.
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, industry standards, and best practices in North Africa, GCC, and Sub-Saharan African countries.
Monitor changes in financial regulations and update internal policies and procedures accordingly.
Supervise accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Coordinate sorts of audits and maintain transparency in financial reporting processes.
Conduct periodic financial reviews to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
Assist with tax audits and tax returns.
Liaise with internal and external auditors, banks, and regulatory agencies.
Financial Budgeting and Forecasting:
Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing its performance and risks.
Develop comprehensive budgets and financial forecasts for fund operations and recommend adjustments as needed to optimize fund performance.
Conduct thorough financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and risk management.
Monitor financial performance against budgetary targets.
Consolidate financial data from across the region, integrating information from multiple sources to provide comprehensive insights and facilitate informed decision-making at both regional and organizational levels.
Prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents.
Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration:
Collaborate cross-functionally with various teams to align financial strategies with organizational goals and priorities with central teams, top management, and other stakeholders.
People Management:
Lead and mentor teams ensuring effective communication and professional development while upholding Flat6Labs culture.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in relevant industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Preferred professional certification (CMA, CPA, CFA, CAIA).
Proven experience working in venture capital, fund management, investment banking private equity, or a startup company in a fundraising cycle with a focus on North Africa and GCC countries.
Strong understanding of financial principles, fund administration, and regulatory compliance.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards governing funds in North Africa and GCC.
Familiarity with IFRS, ILPA, and international taxation frameworks.
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
Experience in financial reporting, including month-end/year-end close processes.
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work in a highly dynamic environment are a must.
