SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Summary:
The Sustainability Coordinator will be responsible for developing implementation and executing strategies for sustainable cocoa sourcing. This role requires regular visits to farmers to support the implementation of programs that improve their technical farming skills, environmental stewardship and community management.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate the company's sustainable sourcing actions, proposing new actions and integrating them into the Strategic Plan.
- Monitor the progress of the certification activities of our cocoa suppliers.
- Review and implement the roadmaps of the Sustainability strategy, supporting the different strategic pillars of action for Barry Callebaut.
- Coordinate the implementation of sustainability activities in the field, in collaboration with cocoa suppliers, customers and partners (certifiers, etc.).
- Be key support in the correct data management and evaluation with the field staff of our cocoa suppliers.
- Construct and follow up on key project indicators corresponding to sustainability programs.
- Maintain the continuous development of relationships with our farmer groups, exporters and customer representatives.
- Identify opportunities to expand the sustainability program with a positive impact on our value chain
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Work Experience:
- Academic degree in agriculture, agro ecology, community development or other related fields;
- At least 1 year of experience in project management and/or agricultural sustainability program management and certifications
- Extensive knowledge of Excel, experience with online tools
- Experience in cocoa production, sourcing and processing is highly desirable
- Additional certifications on data analytics are an advantage (e.g. data analysis software, programming, GIS-based mapping, or others).
- Knowledge of Ecuador's cocoa-growing areas is highly desirable

- Valid driver's license
- Travel required (within Ecuador) 2-3 days a week. Commercial agents and/or producers.
