The position
As a Specialist in Cell Therapy Formulation and Cryopreservation, you will play a critical role in developing formulations and methods for the cryogenic storage and transportation of cell therapy drug products. You will be involved in multiple research and development activities to ensure key deliverables, focusing on the cellular drug product and complementary medical device components. This role will develop and optimize formulation compositions, freezing and thawing methods, and evaluate emerging technologies in the fields of formulation and cryopreservation for cell therapy. You will serve as a subject matter expert in these technological areas, engaging in hands-on work, analytical assays, data interpretation, and experimental protocol execution, while also coordinating external capabilities.
Your main tasks will include:
- Contributing to projects through formulation and cryopreservation development work within cell therapy areas, ensuring thorough alignment with requirements and needs of global project teams
- Designing and executing experiments to investigate, identify, and optimize formulations enabling cryogenic storage and transportation of cell therapy drug products within the context of cellular combination product
- Analyzing and interpreting complex data with high degree of sophistication, driving conclusions and proposing next steps
- Effectively and constructively communicating and collaborating across global sites and provide subject matter expert input to cross-functional project teams
The seniority and main responsibility of the position can be adjusted based on candidate’s qualifications and experience.
The role will be based in Måløv, Denmark and does not include relocation and therefore we are only considering candidates based in Denmark or Southern Sweden. The role is a maternity cover until October 2025.
Qualifications
You have a bachelor’s, master’s degree or a Ph D in in chemistry, biology, process engineering or any other related area, preferably along with experience in cell therapy, cryopreservation and formulation and project management.
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:
- Deep understanding or extensive experience using chemical and physical characterization equipment and test systems, i.e. rheometry, osmolality, molarity, p H, etc.
- Deep understanding of cell interactions with formulations (media) and medical devices (materials, surface finished, physical environment)
- Basic knowledge of medical device regulations and standard laboratory equipment
- Preferably extensive knowledge of cell biology and hands-on experience with aseptic cell culture
- Professional proficiency in English

Your high level of initiative allows you to work independently, while your detail-oriented and deadline-driven approach showcases your organizational skills. About the department
The Cell Therapy Formulation & Cryopreservation Department consists of dynamic and diverse teams in Cell Therapy Platform Technologies, within our broader Transformational Research Unit (TRU). The TRU is unique in the sense that it covers the full R&ED value chain, which means we function as an integrated unit, spanning from early research to GMP production, non-clinical, and clinical development in the same organization. Our department is based in Måløv, Denmark and Fremont, the United States and we are experts in cellular formulation, analytics, delivery, and cryopreservation. We are 18 scientists, technicians and students divided into three teams including the Cryopreservation team. We put emphasis on empowerment and a high degree of transparency in all that we do, and offer a dynamic, flexible, and positive working environment with opportunities to develop professionally while solving cutting-edge scientific challenges.
