Responsibilities for Construction Superintendent
Select trade subcontractors and co-ordinate their activities;
Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements;
Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates;
Plan and manage budgets;
Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress;
Oversee the analysis of data and information;
Direct the purchase of building materials and land acquisitions; Develop and implement quality control programs;
Prepare reports; Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate daily operations
Qualifications for Construction Superintendent
Basic knowledge of software programs, such as Master Builder, Microsoft Excel, Word, Google Chrome, and Power Point
Ability to write reports and professional correspondence to vendors, government officials, and clients
Good reading comprehension for technical documents, such as safety regulations, assembly, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Excellent verbal communications skills, especially when addressing customers, clients, or official visitors to the website
In-depth understanding of construction operation and processes
Keen eye to identify non-compliance with regulations or standards and ability to suggest solutions for deficiencies or problems
Ability to stand for several hours at a time and to walk in varying climate conditions and on uneven ground
Experience with managing demanding clients and offering creative solutions to meet commitments and requests
Capacity to physically lift up to 100 lbs
Willing to travel to different provinces
The flexible time when needed to make sure the project is delivered on time
Training, Certification & Experience
WHMIS, working at heights certification
2 to 5 years total experience related to construction sites as labor, supervisor, and site-supervisor, with a minimum of 2 years supervision experience.
