Founded in 1992, Superior Finishes is a family-owned and operated industrial paint manufacturing company, specializing in custom-formulated liquid paints for OEM industries. With approximately 30 employees, we serve clients across Canada and aim to expand our presence in underrepresented regions, particularly in the east. Our niche products are developed by a skilled R&D team and tailored to meet the specific needs of our customers, who must purchase a minimum of $100,000 of paint annually. We pride ourselves on offering innovative solutions for substrates including steel, aluminum, and fiberglass.
We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Sales Manager to drive growth, build relationships, expand our sales team, and help us reach new markets, reporting directly to the President and Director of Business Development. Key Responsibilities:
Sales Growth & Strategy: Develop and implement effective sales strategies to grow revenue in existing markets and expand into new regions, especially eastern Canada.
New Business Development: Identify and engage with prospective customers in the OEM sector, focusing on those who require custom liquid paint solutions for various substrates (steel, aluminum, fiberglass).
Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with OEM clients, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and fostering repeat business.
Consultative Sales Approach: Collaborate closely with clients to understand their specific needs and work with our R&D team to propose custom-formulated paint solutions.
Recruiting & Team Building: Lead the recruitment and hiring of new Technical Sales Representatives to expand the sales team, ensuring they are knowledgeable about Superior Finishes' products and company values.
Sales Team Management: Provide leadership and guidance to the sales team, including training, goal setting, and performance management.
Travel & Support: Travel with sales reps to meet customers, attend trade shows, and ensure their success in the field by providing on-the-job coaching and support.
Marketing Collaboration: Partner with the Director of Business Development and President to help create and refine marketing materials, including brochures, product catalogs, and case studies.
Lead Generation & Prospecting: Actively prospect for new business through various channels, including cold calls, industry networking, and participation in trade shows and industry events.
Collaboration with R&D Team: Work with the chemists and technical teams to ensure product offerings align with customer expectations and industry demands.
Sales Reporting: Monitor and report on key sales metrics, including lead generation, customer conversion, sales targets, and market trends, to inform business strategies.
Market Research: Stay up to date on industry trends, competitor activities, and market shifts to anticipate customer needs and identify new opportunities for growth.
Qualifications:
Proven track record in sales or business development, preferably within the industrial paint, coatings, or manufacturing sectors.
Strong knowledge of the OEM industry and its requirements for custom liquid coatings.
Demonstrated success in recruiting, training, and managing a high-performing sales team.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and product offerings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Willingness to travel to support the sales team and engage with clients across Canada.
Self-starter with a results-oriented mindset and a passion for driving growth.
Fluent in both French and English a bonus.
