Duties
  • Carry out research activities under lab, field and/or greenhouse conditions
  • Provide technical support for research projects and coordinate research activities with collaborators
  • Contributes to prepare presentations, reports, and publications

Intent of the process
Immediate need: 1 full-time temporary position (duration of approximately one year and a half).

A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates may be established and used to fill similar positions on a temporary or permanent basis.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
EDUCATION:
  • Graduation with a Master or Ph.D degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in agriculture or in a related science.

Degree equivalency
EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience in soil science and plant science lab and field research activities.
  • Experience in writing reports and academic publications including data analysis.
  • Experience in chemistry lab and in collection and processing soil and plant samples.
If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE:
  • Greenhouse research experience in plant science.
  • Experience with C/N Auto-Analyzers for C and N analysis in liquid and solid (soil and plant) samples.
  • Experience in project management, including budget and human resource.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS - KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of isotopic labelling approaches

KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of soil science and plant science in related to soil quality.
  • Knowledge of soil carbon (C) cycling, C labelling approaches, and modelling C dynamics in plant and soil systems.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and corresponding software.

  • Ability to make observations and collect data in soil chemistry lab and field.

  • Possession of a valid, class 5 Saskatchewan driver’s license, or other provincial/territorial equivalency.
  • Willingness and ability to travel;
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime;
  • Known allergies must be controlled through the use of personal protective equipment and/or medication and must not impinge upon the duties to be performed;
  • With appropriate safety precautions in place, able and willing to work in laboratory, greenhouse, and field environments for extended periods at a time.
