Duties
The successful candidate will conduct experiments in a field plot on farm and research centre in a pasture and crop environment and will occasionally assist in a conventional forage quality lab analysing samples collected from the field. The candidate will organize and complete soil sampling, preparing samples for subsequent analyses and prepare pasture and plant samples for subsequent forage quality analyses, conducting chemical, NIRS and in vitro assays using standard experiment protocols, standard operating procedures and safe working procedures. The candidate will organize data, assess results and assist in preparation of reports using MSWord and Excel.

Intent of the process
Immediate need: 1 full-time temporary position (2 year term).
  • Please note that this position requires on-site presence in Lacombe, Alberta.

A pool of qualified and/or partially qualified candidates may be established and used to fill similar positions on a temporary or permanent basis.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
Secondary school diploma or acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Degree equivalency
Experience in operation of farm equipment (e.g. tractors, farm trucks).
Experience performing basic mathematical calculations.
Experience performing basic data entry and data management using Microsoft Excel and Word.

Experience working in a lab environment.
Experience maintaining field equipment (e.g. tractors, farm trucks, harvesters and seeders).

Possession of a valid class 5 Alberta driver’s license or other provincial/territorial equivalency.
