Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority – Yellowknife Region (NTHSSA) is one of eight health and social services authorities established by the Department of Health and Social Services in the Government of the Northwest Territories.
NTHSSA – Yellowknife Region delivers and administers Population Health, Primary Health Care and Social Services programs in the communities of Dettah, Fort Resolution, Lutselk’e, Ndilo and Yellowknife.

Job Information
As the Relief Medical Laboratory Assistant 1 you will collect, sort, process and distribute laboratory samples and maintain patient results within the laboratory of Stanton Territorial Hospital (STH). As part of a regular rotation, you will work at the Yellowknife Primary Care Centre, providing outpatient laboratory collection services. In addition to providing services to STH, the laboratory provides services to 3 hospitals, 21 health centres and 4 medical clinics within the Northwest Territories.
You must have the ability to operate computerized and mechanical laboratory equipment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Laboratory Information Systems, ensuring accurate input and retrieval of critical data. Exceptional attention to detail is a must, as maintaining precise documentation of patient information and laboratory results is crucial.
Additionally, the incumbent will be exposed to emotionally disturbing situations and is expected to remain calm, controlled, and professional at all times. Demonstrating care and compassion towards clients/patients and collaborating effectively with other members of the healthcare team is essential
To be considered for this position you must have the successful completion of an Accreditation Canada recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant Program at a minimum of a certificate level. You must be certified at the time of employment and maintain active registration with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science as a Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant.
