The Department of Health and Social Services works under the direction of the Minister and Deputy Minister, in partnership with the Health and Social Services Authorities, to support the health and wellbeing of people across the NWT through planning, development, evaluation and reporting on program and service delivery.

Job Information
The position is required to research, synthesize and operationalize health infrastructure policy in order to determine what programmatic elements are appropriate for which facility, and which technical engineering specifications are appropriate. The position uses professional judgement to achieve a consistent programmatic and technical approach, keeping programs and technical requirements standardized to minimize risk, and meeting the constraints of delivering patient care in the unique logistical, technical, operational and geographic realities of in the Northwest Territories.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Specialized knowledge and understanding of principles and theories of professional engineering fields (e.g., civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering).
- Expert project management knowledge and skills.
- Specialized knowledge of health facility planning theories and principals.
- Negotiation skills with respect to vendor relationship management
Typically, the above qualifications would he attained by:
These skills are normally acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Architecture or Interior Design, and a minimum of four years (4) experience, of which at least two (2) years are in a remote location or a low-resource-setting.
