Summary
Work diligently to ensure the best position for Simplot Grower Solutions in the acquisition of Seed, Seed Care, Inoculant, and Crop Protection products; ensure position of these products in the Simplot Grower Solutions network, and the resourcing and support for selling the products for our retails. Lead and inspire excellence in forecasting and planning for products to ensure Simplot Grower Solutions is a leader in inventory management.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Product Procurement
- Work closely with CPP & Seed Manager Canada in the negotiation of retail Marketing Letters with each manufacturer which includes identifying incremental opportunities to enhance the margin opportunity for Simplot Grower Solutions.
- Lead the planning and forecasting function and work closely with CPP & Seed Manager Canada to ensure timely and accurate plans.
- Direct the projected plans and forecasts to wholesale distributors
- Set prices for Crop Protection and Seed products for locations in cooperation with Market Managers
- Ensure current understanding of all products, load and package sizes appropriate to Simplot Grower Solutions Markets
- Communicate programs, pricing/sales tactics with sales staff in cooperation with Market Managers
- Assist location staff with pricing issues
- Oversee reconciliation process of product inventory with distribution and locations
- Lead the rebate tracking and reporting functions and work closely with the Finance & Accounting Team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Differentiate Simplot Grower Solutions in the marketplace with its product offerings
Product Logistics
- Oversee logistics processes and arrange trucking, warehousing and proper storage of all products ensuring product is in position in season and efficiently stored in off season.
- Work closely with CPP & Seed Manager Canada in the development of reporting systems to ensure proper tracking of shipments and supply contracts.
- Direct the allocation of products to the appropriate locations to ensure optimal sales targets are met.
Strategic Planner
- Identify opportunities for Simplot Grower Solutions to develop/formulate its own proprietary products; creating a unique solution for our customers and enhancing our margin
- Assist the CPP & Seed Manager Canada with the development and communication of the company annual plan, as it relates to CPP and Seed
- Work to ensure a relevant and up to date understanding of industry and customer trends
- Consult to the development of annual operations budget in cooperation with CPP & Seed Manager Canada
Industry Liaison
- Establish and maintain strong relationships and large industry network as directed by CPP & Seed Manager Canada
- Communicate with designated representatives for manufactures and distributors
- Learn and upgrade knowledge of new products and product updates on CPP and Seed as required
- Maintain strong working knowledge of key industry people and competitors

- Retail locations are the primary profit centers for Simplot Grower Solutions. Build trust with locations on what they can expect for product delivery in season and off season and that moving product for the benefit of all customers will lead us towards our ideal culture.
- Become the preferred Procurement contact for distribution and manufacturers and use that relationship to gain advantage over the competition.
- Align with CPP & Seed Manager Canada on evolving new culture
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Market Managers, Location Managers, and location operations team members
Education and Experience
- 3-5 years employment experience in Western Canadian Ag Industry
- Diploma or Degree from a recognised institution in Business, Agriculture or related field
- Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered for this position.
