Labourer -- wind energy services work
Sentrex Wind Services Inc. is a leading service provider to the renewable energy industry. We are based in Quispamsis, New Brunswick and proudly serve clients throughout Canada.
We have an opening for a labourer to work on our tower construction crew. Job will be based in Quispamsis, New Brunswick, but extensive travel and time away from home is required.
Responsibilities:
We follow provincial guidelines for COVID-19 protocols. Employees are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
Benefits:
We have an opening for a labourer to work on our tower construction crew. Job will be based in Quispamsis, New Brunswick, but extensive travel and time away from home is required.
Responsibilities:
- Travel throughout Canada to perform fieldwork at remote sites for extended periods of time. When not on a field job, selected candidate will work at the company shop in Quispamsis, New Brunswick.
- Assist crew with installation of guyed lattice and tilt-up towers for wind measurement.
- Assist crew with maintenance work on towers including maintenance and replacement of wind measurement sensors.
- Assist crew with decommissioning of towers with gin pole or crane depending on site.
- Work on ground-based wind measurement systems.
- Work on ground-based power supply systems (solar panels/batteries).
- Driving pickup trucks, usually pulling trailers, and often in off-road situations; loading/unloading of equipment; securing loads on trailers; driving ATV's and snowmobiles; cleaning, organizing and maintaining tools and equipment.
- Site work may include brush clearing, working around heavy equipment, working around excavations and trenching, building forms and pouring concrete, assembling steel towers, operating winches (hydraulic and electric), working with 12V/24V off-grid power systems, assembling frames for solar panel arrays, installing and testing instrumentation.
- Over time, there is potential to work up to tower rigging and tower climbing roles.
- ·Must be a self-starter; on-the-job training is provided, but selected candidate must be able and willing to learn, and must be willing to assume more responsibility as job evolves.
- Must be experienced with outdoor construction work in all kinds of weather; this is labour intensive and requires fitness and stamina.
- Must be willing and able to travel and work in remote locations -- if you cannot travel for work, or do not want to travel, please do not apply.
- Job requires working outside, often in the cold and in remote areas.
- Job requires heavy lifting and manual work.
- Must be proficient in use of hand tools.
- Must have good computer and communications skills
- Must be fluent in English
- Must have a valid driver’s license with clean abstract
- Must have ability to pass drug, alcohol and fitness tests
- Must be safety conscious and have common sense.
- Must have a positive attitude.
- Sentrex offers a non-smoking/non-vaping environment.
- ·Construction experience in an outdoor environment.
- Experience with tower construction
- Experience with small off-grid power supplies.
- Bilingual (English and French)
