*Job Summary* As a Labourer for Unitech you will be a resourceful, intelligent, confident and dedicated professional who is committed to adding value to our client’s projects each and every hour spent on site. The main and most important function of your position is keeping the construction site clean and free of debris causing safety hazards, moving materials and equipment and performing demolition tasks. The expectations of this position includes:
- A standard work week is 40 hours a week, however in peak construction periods you may be required to work overtime.
- You will receive training on each task you perform, including power tools, hand tools, mobile equipment, ergonomics, WHMIS, etc.
- Work is generally outdoors and is dependent upon the weather.
- You will be working in close contact with other trades.
- Your work will vary from one project to the next.
- Most jobs will be physically demanding. You may have to lift heavy equipment and materials.
- You will be trained to work safely, to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the worksite and the duties being performed. If you have not preformed a task before you are required to request training and guidance.
- Worksites tend to be noisy because of the use of heavy equipment and power tools.
As a Labourer your daily tasks includes the following but not limited to:
- Perform various physical duties as assigned.
- Maintain overall site safety standards.
- Loading and unloading construction material and moving materials to work areas.
- Site maintenance and upkeep of facilities and fencing.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas. Remove debris and unwanted materials to storage and disposal areas.
- Assist with temporary lighting and or heating.
- The use of power tools, electrical equipment and manual hand tools to aid in project construction.
- Hand excavation and fine grading using rakes and shovels.
- Perform some specialized tasks which may require on the job training.
- Perform other activities on construction sites, as directed.
Qualifications
- Self-motivated, creative thinking, organized, and efficient with good oral and written English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
- Eye-hand coordination, good physical fitness, manual dexterity, and sense of balance.
