Job Title: Labourer
Reporting Directly to the Supervisor, Earthworks and the Supervisor, Pit from time to time, this position is responsible for general labour duties related to construction and quarrying work at the Eskay Creek Mine site.
This role will be responsible for the safe work in varying locations, conditions and with varying small tools and equipment.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Perform mining related duties including moving supplies, fueling equipment, moving pumps and light plants and setting up dewatering systems.
Perform construction related duties including operating plate compactors, shoveling, raking, installing geosynthetics, installing culverts/pipe and cleaning tracks.
Assist with fuel and lube on large equipment.
Assist with wastewater pumping and potable water pumping.
Assist with general site cleaning and maintenance.
Perform repetitive tasks, access difficult terrain, use a variety of hand tools and operate light vehicles in rough terrain.
Work and operate in all weather conditions including rain, snow, fog and sun.
Complete shift paperwork as required including FLHAs, JHAs, equipment inspection sheets and load sheets.
Perform pre-operational checks on equipment, clean, grease and refill fluids in equipment as required.
Attend and participate in pre-shift safety meetings.
Uphold and embody Skeena Resource’s safety standards.
Adhere to all safety standards, regulations and rules as applicable.
Participate in any site-specific training.
All other duties as required by the Company.
Experience / Qualifications:
Familiarity with heavy civil and mining construction including types of equipment, operations and work sequencing.
Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Strong commitment to promoting and maintaining good Health and Safety Culture.
Experience working in a remote mining or industrial environment is required.
Self-motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision.
Applicants who do not have direct construction or mining labour experience may be considered based on other work experience and willingness to learn.
Working Conditions:
This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. Additionally, the job is in a fast-paced working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.
The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.
There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
