Apply coatings, paints, and protective finishes to industrial piping and structural steel, and welds according to job specifications using various techniques, such as conventional spray and abrasive blasting while adhering to industry standards and product specifications. Responsible for delivering and maintaining high standards of work whilst carrying out the duties of this role in line with Company values to achieve long-term success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contract length: 24 months
Pay: $31.17-$56.67 per hour

JOB SUMMARY:
Apply coatings, paints, and protective finishes to industrial piping and structural steel, and welds according to job specifications using various techniques, such as conventional spray and abrasive blasting while adhering to industry standards and product specifications. Responsible for delivering and maintaining high standards of work whilst carrying out the duties of this role in line with Company values to achieve long-term success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the applicable regulations in a safe manner and in accordance with Altrad and site procedures
- Ensure all Material Safety Data & Product Data Sheets are adhered to
- Ensure safe use of plant and equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and/or Altrad Competency Modules
- Safely use PPE issued and required for the task
- Raise any safety concerns and actively participate in safety discussions
- Behave in a professional manner with a high degree of respect for self, co-workers, and clients
- Knowledge of Alkyd, Enamel, Polyurethane, Epoxies, and Zinc industrial paints
- Familiar with the use of wet and dry paint thickness MIL gauges
- Set up work areas safely and in accordance with the JHA & Risk Assessments
- Maintain high housekeeping standards at all times
- Adherence to the Company’s CMS, and Policies and Procedures
- Operates paint equipment and utilizes supplies. Mixes and applies basic and industrial paint as per specifications
- Demonstrate a willingness and capability to perform other duties as deemed appropriate and consistent with your professional qualifications, skills, or experience.
- Measures paint thickness as per specifications.
- Inspects final product, ensuring conformance to specifications
- Journeyperson Ticket – Painter is considered an asset
- Two to three years of related work experience in a similar industry is considered an asset
- Physical requirements: the ability to stand, bend, and lift heavy objects. The willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures.
- Suitably trained and competent in both industrial abrasive blasting & applications of protective coatings
- Health Safety & Environmental: all staff are required to perform their tasks as per current work instructions and training. This is to be done in a in a manner that takes into consideration their own safety, the safety of others, the environment, and the Company’s reputation
- Materials: handle & utilize solvent-based paint, industrial thinners, and other coatings materials in accordance with applicable material safety data sheets
- Environment: ability to work in various environments. The ability to work at heights.
- Personal Protection: able to use Personal protective equipment provided: gloves, PPE (must be clean shaven), ear protection, eye protection, safety boots, high viz, UV, and other PPE as required
- Training: all staff are to participate in training sessions organized by the Company
- Meeting Attendance: all staff are to attend required meetings, and are encouraged to actively participate within these meetings
Contract length: 24 months
Pay: $31.17-$56.67 per hour
Flexible language requirement:
- French not required
- 10 hour shift
- Are you a certified Journeyman or registered apprentice?
- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
- Painting: 4 years (preferred)
- Spray Painting: 2 years (preferred)
- Fireproofing: 1 year (preferred)
- Industrial Site: 2 years (preferred)
- English (required)
- Journeyman Certificate (preferred)
- 75% (preferred)
