Job Information
Dehcho Divisional Education Council invites applications for the 2024-2025 school year from certified teachers. Echo Dene School offers a diverse range of programs to 105 students in a JK-K through grade 12 school. School programs support language and cultural heritage of the students in an inclusive environment.
Available Positions: Indigenous Language Educator
Term (Immediately to July 11, 2025)
Qualifications:
The applicant:
- Must hold or be eligible for a Northwest Territories Professional Teaching Certificate.
- Proficiency in speaking the Dene Yatie language is required.
- Must demonstrate the ability to effectively engage with students and their parents in multi-grade environments.
- Direct experience with the Northwest Territories curricula is preferred.
- Familiarity with the "Our Languages Curriculum" is an asset.
- Experience in promoting and organizing culturally appropriate activities is highly desirable.
- The ability to teach additional courses from JK-12 would be considered an asset.
- Preference will be given to candidates who identify as Indigenous Dene.
