Position Overview: We are seeking a diligent and experienced Health, Safety, and Environment Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as developing and implementing strategies to maintain a safe, secure, and sustainable workplace. Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Range: $65,000 – $73,000 per year and will be negotiated based the knowledge, skills, and experience of the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in accordance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify hazards, unsafe practices, and environmental concerns, and recommend corrective actions.
Coordinate and conduct safety training programs for employees, emphasizing best practices in hazard recognition, accident prevention, and emergency response.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
Collaborate with management and staff to promote a culture of safety, health, and environmental consciousness throughout the organization.
Maintain records and documentation related to health, safety, and environmental activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Monitor environmental performance indicators and implement initiatives to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainability.
Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, participating in inspections and ensuring compliance with permits and licenses.
Stay informed about new and evolving health, safety, and environmental regulations and trends, and update policies and procedures accordingly.
Provide leadership and guidance to employees on health, safety, and environmental matters, fostering a safe and supportive work environment.
Provide H&S expertise for all new projects and change management activities within the organization
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred
Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or equivalent would be an asset.
Proven experience as a Health Safety and Environment Officer, preferably in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g. CEPA) and experience with regulatory compliance.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and develop proactive solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
