Merchantman Fresh Seafood & Oyster Bar The Merchantman Fresh Seafood & Oyster Bar is a 210-seat, high-volume restaurant located in the heart of downtown Charlottetown. Our Kitchen team strives to use the best of what PEI has to offer to create a delicious menu that not only incorporates amazing fresh seafood, but also farm-fresh local produce, meats, and poultry. As General Manager, You Will Oversee all aspects of restaurant operations, including front and back-of-house operations. The General Manager must demonstrate outstanding leadership, managing, mentoring, and motivating the Merchantman team. Our General Manager is passionate about the restaurant industry and dedicated to the growth of the brand, forward-thinking with a positive attitude, and puts guest service first.
Oversee the successful running of the restaurant, working to achieve the financial, marketing, and human resources goals and objectives as set by Merchantman and Murphy Hospitality Group
Oversee all restaurant financials such as labour costs, cost of goods sold, and costing team schedules
Demonstrate and communicate the Merchantman vision to all team members and lead by example
Work with the MHG People Team to conduct all team member hiring and proper training; experience in recruiting and hiring an asset
Ensure team members provide a memorable guest experience through coaching and fostering a positive working culture by reinforcing the MHG values daily, exciting team members with their positive nature
Encourage a culture that revolves around memorable guest experiences, summer fun, and quality food
Work with the restaurant management team to ensure successful restaurant operations, developing workloads, providing mentorship and coaching
Work with the Head Chef and their team to ensure food menu standards are met as set out by the Merchantman team and MHG Executive Chef
Aid in restaurant menu development
Guest and team member management through conflict resolution and problem-solving, build and maintain authentic relationships with guests and team members
Perform all front-of-house duties as needed, including hosting, bartending, serving, and expediting

What You Bring
A post-secondary diploma/degree in business or hospitality is an asset
3+ years experience working as a General Manager in a full-service restaurant
