The Royal Saskatchewan Museum (RSM) requires an individual for a permanent, part-time Gallery Interpreter position. Key duties will include:
Visitor reception duties; welcoming and orienting visitors to the museum;
Opening and closing the museum galleries on a daily basis;
Supervising galleries and public facilities and ensuring visitors observe rules of behavior;
Delivering programs for school workshops;
Guiding tour groups of different ages and abilities within a noisy, busy, ever-changing environment;
Developing and delivering activities for children;
Light housekeeping such as program set-up and tear-down.
Typically, successful candidates have:
Demonstrated communication skills to present in front of and engage groups of people;
Experience leading programming for children and/or families;
Knowledge of Saskatchewan's natural history and/or Indigenous cultural history obtained through some post-secondary education in Biology, Education, Indigenous Studies, or Paleontology;
Customer service training and experience;
Ability to contribute positively to a teamwork setting.
Typical hours of work are 70% of full-time hours. Successful candidates will need the availability to work a set shift of 9:15am-5:15pm, every Thursday -Saturday, and every second Wednesday.
The salary for this position will be updated to $22.295 – $27.939 once Class Plan Renewal process is completed and HR system has been updated.
