Primary Job Purpose
The Estimator position is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of estimates, including materials and labour for projects for our Builder partners. In addition, the Estimator will be required to communicate with Builder partners for information and clarification, updating construction schedules, obtaining purchase orders and communicating with departments within Divine. The Estimator will be required to enter estimating information such as product details, materials, quantities, and labour components into our operating system. In order for success in this role, the candidate must be analytical, thorough, organized and have an aptitude for blueprint drawings to ensure accuracy.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Measure floor plans
  • Using Builder Multi and Single-Family drawings, complete accurate take-offs of plans in Measure Square for all areas
  • Upload Measure Square files, floorplans and worksheets to Jobs in Tracker
  • Upload carpet cut sheets, as required, to Jobs in Tracker
  • Interpret contracts and specifications for details on floorplans
  • Update Measure Square files, as required, based on any changes in scope of work
  • Work with various departments to obtain information necessary to fulfill job function such as product information, job statuses and material ETA’s
  • Update Measure Square database with new items as needed
  • Create builder stock model templates as required
  • Provide effective leadership and training to less experienced estimators
  • Be disciplined in estimating procedures including document and addenda control
Requirements
Skills Required – Technical
  • Proficiency in computerized estimating systems and other common programs such as Microsoft Office suite, Measure Square and Divine Tracker
  • Construction knowledge and ability to read blueprints
  • Previous experience working with concrete and epoxy jobs considered
Skills Required – Non-Technical
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter requiring limited supervision
  • Team player
  • Positive attitude
Education and Experience Required
  • Completion of diploma or post-secondary education in a construction, interior design, or related discipline.
  • Familiarity with interpreting blueprint drawings.
  • Previous experience in construction industry and cost estimating is an asset.
  • Knowledge of flooring installations is considered an asset.
