Executive Chef - NWT Brewing Company

Nestled between the wonder of the aurora borealis and the rugged nature of the northern frontier, our little brewing outpost is one of a kind. Located in the spirited town of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories we are the Northernmost brewpub in Canada featuring a 112 seat dining room with seasonal patio.

As part of our commitment to excellence, we are looking for a talented and experienced hands-on Head Chef to lead our culinary team. The ideal candidate will bring energy, creativity, and a passion for crafting fresh, high-quality dishes, along with strong leadership skills to manage and inspire the kitchen team.

Job Description: NWTBCo is seeking a dynamic and creative Executive Chef to oversee our kitchen operations and contribute to the overall success of our brewpub. The ideal candidate will have a strong culinary background, a passion for craft beer, and a commitment to delivering memorable dining experiences for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a diverse and inspired menu that complements our craft beers
  • Ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and taste along with the timely delivery of food in the dining room.
  • Develop and standardize recipes to ensure consistency.
  • Manage kitchen staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
  • Maintain inventory, and order supplies effectively
  • Maintain budgeted food, labor, and direct expense cost percentages, inventory controls and reporting
  • Implement and enforce health and safety standards in the kitchen
  • Maintain equipment and cleaning schedules
  • Keep all FOH staff informed by providing and maintaining product descriptions for all menu items and tastings for nightly specials.
  • Be available to coordinate, assist, and/or perform entirely any in-house or off-premise events.
  • Collaborate with the brew team to create beer and food pairings and special event menus
  • Stay current with industry trends and continuously improve menu offerings
  • Foster a positive and motivating work environment by leading by example with role model behaviours consistent with our organizations values
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a high-volume restaurant or brewpub
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage pairing, particularly with craft beer
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Creative and innovative approach to menu development
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Passion for the culinary arts and a commitment to excellence

Pay: $70,000.00-$88,000.00 per year
