Educational Assistant, Welding (Term Part-Time)

POSITION TYPE: Part-Time, Term Position Available (anticipated December 2, 2024 up to August 29, 2025)
SALARY: $51,573 - $72,573 per annum

ELIGIBILITY LIST: This competition may be used to establish a 6 month eligibility list of qualified candidates for future vacancies.
DUTIES
The Educational Assistant reports directly to the Chair of the Manufacturing department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to offering support to staff and students in lab environments, assisting faculty on student-related issues and the delivery of curriculum, plus organizing and maintaining an inventory of shop materials, supplies and equipment. This may include setting up equipment before classes, plus removal and storage of equipment once classes have concluded. The Educational Assistant will also work closely with the College Safety and Health Services department to assure compliance, maintain proper safety standards, and follow safety protocols for using and repairing tools and equipment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Welding certificate. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Experience working in a shop environment
-
Ability to assist in maintaining supplies/inventory and obtaining quotations for orders

Strong commitment to safety regulations

Experience presenting to a diverse group of individuals

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes

Demonstrated leadership skills

Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings

Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Power Point)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Current or previous Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) qualification

Forklift operation license
- Post-secondary teaching experience

- Incumbent must be physically capable of lifting up to 50lbs.
