**This position requires a Classification with the NS Government in Childcare** We are building a team of Early Childhood Educators to foster stimulating, safe and nurturing environments for the children entrusted in our care. Our Educators will require strong and positive communication skills to provide support to the families registered at the Liverpool YMCA Childcare Centre. Our team of Early Childhood Educators are responsible for the implementation of the YMCA Playing to Learn Curriculum to guide the children to learn and grow while complying with the Education & Early Childhood Development Regulations and National YMCA Child Protection Standards. Responsibilities
Plan and implement YMCA Playing to Learn Curriculum in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Childcare Centre to foster maximum development for each child’s potential and growth
Valuing diversity by learning about the children and families to ensure they are appropriately represented in the program
Supporting the inclusion of all children and families by ensuring children and their families are an integral part of the program and all feel welcome
Plan, implement, and assess developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor learning environments for young children that support emotional and social development, while understanding and encouraging positive self-concept
Use a variety of teaching techniques that include, but are not limited to, modelling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing
Effectively communicate concerns and suggestions openly to the Director, the Assistant Director, and co-workers
To work collaboratively with the team
Knowledgeable of staffing information and the Childcare Department’s Policies including Behavior Guidance, Child Abuse Protocol, and Confidentiality
Attend professional development workshops, mandatory curriculum trainings and monthly staff meetings
Supervise Student Placements and ensure proper paperwork is completed
Responsible for program set up, classroom clean up and organization
To administer and record all children’s medication, plans of action and behaviour charts
To develop and maintain meaningful relationships with families and the community

Contract length: 12-18 months
