DIRECTOR, FINANCIAL REPORTING & BUDGETING

The Director, Financial Reporting & Budgeting is responsible for leading the development, monitoring, and reporting of Northern Health’s multi-year financial operating plans to ensure NHA’s broad financial goals are achieved. As a member of the Finance Leadership team, the Director provides leadership within and around financial planning in order to facilitate achievement of the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of Northern Health in accordance with the organization’s values. The Director provides input and makes recommendations to the Executive team, senior leadership, physician leaders, and the Executive Director, Financial Planning & Budgeting on financial and operational issues as they relate to both the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of Northern Health.

Starting salary will be approximately from $116,591 to $145,739 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualifications
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or a Master’s Degree in relevant discipline (MHA, Leadership, MBA);
  • Seven (7) or more years of relevant managerial or financial accounting experience within a large complex multi-site organization, preferably in a healthcare environment, and in positions with increasing leadership
  • responsibility;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities:
  • In depth knowledge of Canadian generally accepted accounting principles and practices, public sector accounting standards, financial policies, legislation and government directives, financial and management systems and process, auditing standards, internal controls, and management accounting concepts relevant to major public sector organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial ability and advanced knowledge of leadership principles to enable NHA to move forward and engage people in the organization’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge into practice and to understand and communicate the implications of operational decisions and activities. Proven ability to define/amalgamate diverse organizational requirements, financial parameters, resolves issues, identify, and mitigate risks and develop long term plans.
  • Superior analytical ability and problem-solving skills with a collaborative team approach to decision making.
  • Customer focused with ability to facilitate and encourage cooperation between diverse operational groups and skill sets.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to interact tactfully and effectively with staff at all organizational levels both internally and externally.
  • Superior presentation skills, including the ability to comprehend complex issues and present information in concise meaningful ways.
  • Superior interpersonal, communication, facilitation, and leadership skills, including the ability to negotiate with and influence others, both internal and external to the organization at various levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workload and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to set and accomplish goals within a large complex organization and work under pressure and with a high degree of initiative and self-motivation.
