Corporate Associate, 2-7 Year Call
Yellowknife, NWT

Lawson Lundell LLP is a leading full-service business law firm with offices in Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary, and Yellowknife. The firm is known for its practical and strategic approach to legal and business problems. Our firm and lawyers have received national and international recognition in numerous legal directories and publications including, most recently being named "Regional Law Firm of the Year - Western Canada" at the Canadian Law Awards.

We are seeking a keen, hands-on solicitor to join our Yellowknife office.

Our Yellowknife office is one of the largest law firms in the Northwest Territories known for its leading expertise in Northern Canada (Chambers Canada), and being the top firm in General Business Law: Northern Canada and Arctic since 2017 (Chambers Canada). The office is an integral part of this vibrant, close-knit northern community, and it offers a small-firm, collegial environment within the context of the resources of a large, Western Canadian regional firm active in the North.

You will receive dedicated mentorship from senior lawyers and will be supported to build connections with lawyers from the firm’s other offices. You will also enjoy a large degree of responsibility and independence in this general corporate and commercial practice. The work includes corporate organizations and governance, commercial transactions, private mergers and acquisitions, bank financing, commercial real estate and mining law. The position offers practical, but challenging work with clients throughout the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, as well as the opportunity to tailor the practice to suit your interests.

Required qualifications:

  • 2 to 7 years' experience in dealing with a variety of corporate matters
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to joining a thriving firm in the North
  • Enjoyment of business development activities
  • Record of community involvement considered an asset
Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their resume and cover letter to Tyron Telang, Manager of Legal Talent on Bamboo.

We thank all applicants for their interest and will contact those with whom we wish to schedule an interview.
