About the Branch: The Community Affairs branch nurtures strong connections with municipalities, the Association of Yukon Communities, local advisory councils and unincorporated communities. They provide funding to municipalities to ensure the provision of sustainable local services and operational funding for local advisory councils. Additionally, the branch works with First Nation governments to adopt coordinated approaches in addressing complex challenges faced by Yukon communities, aiming to develop lasting, sustainable solutions for local problems. About the Position: Community advisors work closely with the senior management and elected officials in Yukon municipalities and local advisory councils, providing advice on a variety of financial, organizational, and strategic matters. Overseeing all aspects of the Yukon Municipal Act, the Community Affairs Branch works hard to develop collaborative relationships between communities and Yukon Government. Essential Qualifications Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications – specifically – how your work experiences and related duties align with the essential qualifications shown below. Degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Community Development, a recognized Municipal Administration certification or related field.
Significant experience providing strategic advice and support to a broad range of senior-level officials in the public, private and/or non-profit sectors.
Significant experience identifying, planning, and delivering on client needs and organizational strategic objectives.
Experience assisting with public meetings, public consultations and/or engagement processes would be an asset.
Experience analyzing and providing advice on budgets, financial reporting, and other financial matters would be an asset.
Experience in understanding legislation and the legislative process would be an asset.
