We are looking for a full time Banquets Server/Porter to add to our team. This position is located at Chateau Nova located at 4571-48 Street Yellowknife, NWT. Primary Functions Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, the Banquets Server/Porter is a food service professional overseeing each aspect of the banquet/catering function from setup through service to the tear down and cleanup. They supervise staff while liaising with the host to ensure guest satisfaction and will handle the immediate complaints/concerns of the customers. This position requires excellent customer service and the ability to work under pressure, enabling you to provide genuine hospitality to our guests by delivering quality food and beverages in an efficient and consistent manner, while maintaining a positive and cooperative attitude and a SMILE. The Banquets Server/Porter is required to maintain a flexible schedule and be available to work shift work including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Full time position, minimum 30 hours/week.
Responsibilities and Essential Dutie S, including but not limited to:
Follows all established and future Food & Beverage Standard Operating Procedures
Knowledgeable about the function and the menu being offered by attending weekly F&B meetings
Assists with the planning, organizing and execution of all banquet functions including, but not limited to, breakfast, coffee breaks, luncheons, dinners, cocktail receptions, galas, etc.
Promoting a "No Problem Service" environment
Assigns duties to each Team member for every event
Stays in constant contact with the host to ensure everything runs seamlessly
Supervises service throughout the function to ensure quality service and product quality
Is energetic and enthusiastic; enjoys customer service and working with the public
Will be required to physically work the floor at events, pinch hitting as a server or bartender
Perform well under pressure in a fast paced and sometimes challenging environment
Checks banquet event rooms in advance of functions to ensure departmental standards are being followed
Report defects/repairs needed to the maintenance department
Maintains effective communications with other hotel departments to relate clients’ needs/requirements
Conducts site inspections for prospective clients, when necessary
Checks quality and delivery of catering services prior to their release
Communicates with the Lounge and Restaurant and assists when required
Oversees the Restaurant and Lounge in the absence of other Supervisors
Adheres to all Nova Hotels standards, including Hygiene, Health and Safety, and Guest Interactions.
